International business law is a complex area. One of the advantages of being a client of Vinge is that we understand the overall view and possess the detailed knowledge of the various areas within business law. In order to achieve this, it is important that the requirements for internal communication and the sharing of knowledge are given high priority. It is important to us to ensure that the assistance that we provide our clients is quality-assured and consistent. To this end, we endeavour to make efficient use of the firm’s accumulated experience, and of the capabilities of the specialist practice groups. The responsibility for this rests with a working team for Knowledge Management – the KM Group.
The KM Group has developed a KM database and a digital library which all members of the firm can access. Via the KM database and the digital library, the individual employee can obtain standard documents and annotations, including suggestions for alternative wording; he or she may access information on experience from similar projects, find complementary external information, ascertain the identity of the person within the firm who has the relevant specialist knowledge, and read about legal issues and news which may be relevant for the matter at issue.
Essentially, the work is intended to ensure that Vinge is in a position to always provide the most qualified, expert legal advice and to work in the most efficient and innovative manner possible. The KM Group has been successful and we have therefore developed a new profession for lawyers within Knowledge Management, i.e. KM lawyers. These lawyers are responsible for managing and developing the knowledge management work within the firm and play a central role in Vinge’s practice.
